Blu Building Consultants is committed to reducing the ecological and environmental impact of business operations. Our goal is to mitigate net-zero emissions by 2040.
COP26 highlighted the need for every industry to take deliberate steps towards a future that solves climate change. Like other building consultants, we’re ready to make positive changes. We have put together a robust package of solutions and new policies to ensure these changes.
Our new policy is designed to minimise negative contributions towards climate change in the construction industry. The ultimate aim of the company is to reduce any contribution to pollution. This process will be accomplished via attempting to create net-zero policies, recycling, reducing waste where possible, and operating in an environmentally conscious fashion.
Our organisation will seek to address and combat the damaging effects of business operations. The aim is to reduce the overall impact we have on the environment due to day-to-day work processes.
Furthermore, we will be instructing staff on environmentally friendly practices. Each member of the organisation and any contractors we work with will be held to a rigorous standard.
We aim to make sure that we reduce any environmentally harmful procurement practices and seek new methods of supplying materials, contractors and resources.
Blu Building Consultants has a robust eco-friendly strategy in place. We will review practices and policies regularly to guarantee constant growth. Our company takes full responsibility for any harmful business practices in the past and pledges to do better. Unfortunately, more has not already been done, but our commitment in the future is absolute.
This policy is freely available for all, to promote transparency. We pledge to improve business practices to lessen climate change constantly — our goal to be carbon net zero by 2040 drives all policies we make.

Commitment to achieving Carbon Net Zero
Blu Building Consultants are committed to achieving Carbon Net Zero emissions by 2040.
Baseline Emissions Footprint
Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any formal strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.
Baseline Year: 2021
Additional details relating to the Baseline Emissions calculations:
Blu Building Consultants have measured and reported scope 1, 2 and 3 carbon emissions since January 2021 and will continue to report emissions to the calendar year period. Blu’s carbon emissions have been calculated in accordance with the GHG Protocol, using DEFRA conversion factors, for the emissions sources detailed in PPN06/21.
Scope 1 includes direct emissions only, which involves business travel in company owned vehicles. Scope 2 encompasses indirect emissions from Blu’s electricity consumption (including heating and electricity used for hybrid plug in vehicles). Scope 3 incorporates employee commuting, business travel in non-company cars, electricity transmission and distribution, water supply, water treatment, key suppliers and waste. The emissions included within Blu’s carbon accounting are detailed in the infographic, below.
Baseline Year Emissions: 2021
Emissions | Total (tCO2e) |
---|---|
Scope 1 | 4.28 |
Scope 2 | 0.33 |
Scope 3 (included Sources) |
18.57 |
Total Emissions | 23.18 (3.86 per full time employee) |
Current Emissions Reporting: 2022
Emissions | Total (tCO2e) |
---|---|
Scope 1 | 0.75 |
Scope 2 | 0.39 |
Scope 3 (included Sources) |
15.31 |
Total Emissions | 16.45 (2.74 per full time employee) |
