Queen Victoria Memorial Hospital (QVM) refurbishment
Our first phase of works was a complete upgrade to the domestic hot water system, that previously suffered from poor water hygiene and low flow rates. This involved the strip out of all existing pipe work, removal of any dead legs and the old water storage tanks, as well as the installation of new plant room equipment.
Our second phase of works was the upgrade of all sanitary ware to a modern healthcare standard, which included both patient and staff areas.
The final phase of works, post Water Hygiene project, saw the redecoration of all areas affected by Phase 1 and 2. This left the hospital looking fresh and clean after such invasive works.
The photos above show the works in progress to both the plant rooms and inpatient areas. The scheme was a combination of competitive and direct awards.
Blu Building Consultants were appointed as client side project managers, contract administrators, cost advisors and M&E Clerk of works on the project from inception to completion.

We, the Queen Victoria Memorial nursing and therapy teams, want to express our gratitude for your workers’ dedication and hard work in the unit. The unit looks fantastic, and we appreciate the effort the contractors have put in to maintain it. We understand that working in a busy unit with patients and staff around can be challenging, but we are pleased that the communication between both teams is leading to minimal disruption. Once again, a big thank you for all your hard work!
