Our Health and Safety Manager, Edward Braisher, has recently been retained by HPFT to lead on a number of key strategic priorities to take Health, Safety and Security forward within the Trust.
He has already been supporting the trust in terms of CDM Compliance for building projects being led by the Estates and Facilities Team, so this additional appointment is a sign of his ability to work through complex Health and Safety issues within the NHS environment.
The planned priorities include developing a Health, Safety and Security strategy for the Trust in conjunction with the Deputy Director of Safer Care and Standards and the Executive Director of Quality and Safety – and in addition offering specialist support, advice and guidance to Managing Directors, Service Line Leads, Site Managers and Safety Representatives.
Over the next few months a number of key priorities have been identified for the Trust including reviewing the existing H&S audit programme, supporting the Trust Health and Safety Committee and how it seeks assurance at board level, developing a training needs analysis in relation to H&S training and reviewing H&S policies, statutory compliance and emergency planning issues.
Edward has been a qualified Health and Safety professional for nearly 20 years and over the last 10 years has specialised in NHS Risk Management and Governance and this appointment.
He is familiar with engaging with staff at all levels within an organisation and providing clear advice and guidance on Health and Safety matters to both senior management and employees, in addition he is commercially aware with a record of identifying risk measures that are sensible and practicable and is a strong believer that Health and Safety should not be seen as a barrier for work activities to take place.
