Refurbishment of listed property for Community Adult Mental Health outpatients

Significant refurbishment of a detached listed 2 storey property in the centre of Hitchin, Herts. The project involves upgrading the existing property into a series of ground floor outpatient consultation/interview rooms for service users experiencing mental health illness. The remaining floor area will accommodate a medications store, treatment rooms aswell as provide agile workspace for community mental health teams with associated meeting room/break out space.

The project involves the relocation of all the existing tenants to decant sites. These relocated clinical teams operate round the clock and thus it was essential that there would be minimal service downtime throughout this decant stage.

Scope of work involves: Structural and non-structural alterations to internal partitions, replacement lighting, rewiring of all electrics, replacement of all doors, improvements to fire compartmentation and fire protection systems, backlog maintenance tasks, interior design package, safety and security improvements, full replacement of all furniture and equipment, improved mechanical services, IT/Data infrastructure, planning + landlord approvals.

The scheme has been tendered on a traditional single stage basis with minor elements of contractor design.

Completion date – April 2018.
